BEST Air Fryer Chuck Roast (1)

If you’re looking for the best way to cook beef, this is it. Air fryer chuck roast is the latest creation in our house and man was it yummy. The perfect texture on the inside and outside with tons of flavor in every bite. One of our easy air fryer recipes we’ve shared lately. (affiliate links present)

Chuck Roast Air Fryer

We buy half of a cow at the beginning of each year. I know, I talk about this often but it has been a game changer in my life for sure. A lot less trips to the store, saves us money, we know where our beef came from and it tastes amazing.

One package we always get a few of are chuck roasts. At first I had no clue what to do with them but now they may be my favorite cut. They are so versatile and make some of the greatest air fryer beef recipes ever.

If you love air fryer recipes too, here are some resources to start with:

Which cuts of meat are cheapest?

If you include everything a whole chicken tops the list. Going down the line to the cheapest cut of beef this is it amongst the others. Get it bone-in and it’s even less money than without. I remove the chunks of fat and bone before serving this up anyway so that doesn’t seem to bother me.

Marinated Chuck Roast

You don’t have to do this step but if you want to add the most flavor you can use our beef fajita marinade which is killer. Another option is to add a dry rub to the outside and shake off the excess. Finally we have a third option in the recipe card below that is light and quick to whisk together. You’ll need the following for this:

  1. 2-3 pound roast
  2. Olive oil
  3. Worcestershire
  4. Garlic powder
  5. Rosemary

Salt and pepper as well as any other seasonings you think you might enjoy are added into the mix and then brushed on.

Remember that you’ll get a fair amount of roast drippings from this. You can easily make some onion gravy with it or just pour it over kinda’ like au jus when serving.

At the beginning you want to get that nice crispy sear on the outside. To do that you’ll want to just throw it into your air fryer basket like you see here. The rest of the timing is done in an air fryer pan to catch the liquid and allow it to simmer inside in a sense.

You could alternatively start with it inside the pan if you wanted, it just won’t get that crunchy outer layer to the meat. I like the contrast of soft and moist on the inside and the opposite just a bit on the edges.

BEST Air Fryer Chuck Roast (4)

You’re going to start out with preheating air fryer to 390 degrees F for 5 minutes. Spray inside of basket with olive oil so it won’t stick.

  • Mix together your oil, Worcestershire sauce, rosemary, garlic powder, salt and pepper / other desired seasonings. Brush this on both sides of meat. Keep the remainder for later on.
  • Cook for 15 minutes. Lift your meat out and place it into an air fryer pot. Pour remaining oil mixture over the top.
  • Lower temperature to 320 degrees and cook for 30 to 40 minutes. Air fryer cooking time will depend on the weight, thickness, and how well done you want it to be inside. Check the temperature at 30 minutes to see if it’s done. You can use our steak temperature chart to determine whether you need more cook time.

Remove, allow to rest for 10 minutes, then slice and serve. Internal temperature should be at least 145 F for consumption.

BEST Air Fryer Chuck Roast (5)

As always you should never ever slice your protein right after it’s done cooking. You will loose all of those wonderful juices on to your cutting board if you do. You want that to stay inside so that with every bite you can enjoy those flavors. Once it is removed, cover so it stays warm for a good 10 to up to 20 minutes. Then use a sharp knife to slice.

The same goes for things like our air fryer roast beef recipe which is amazing or pot roast cooked any which way.

If you’re shredding it like our slow cooker roast beef and gravy put it back into the juices for a while before serving.

If you know you are going to have leftovers though, only slice the pieces you will be eating that day. This is another trick to keeping meat as moist as possible. For the remainder of it leave it whole. Make sure it is room temperature before you store it inside a freezer bag or wrap with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for up to 3 days and enjoy the next day.

To reheat beef, keep those juices! Slice off what you want, pour gravy over the top and heat in microwave for about 1 minute. If you don’t add moisture it will surely dry out.

BEST Air Fryer Chuck Roast (6)

You could alternatively use this same method to heat it up again though. Take out that pot again, add slices with your liquid on top and heat at 380 for about 6 minutes. This will add a bit of crispness again but as long as you have a sauce on top it won’t get dry and most resemble when it was freshly cooked.

Need ideas for side dishes? We love Ninja Foodi baked potatoes and air fryer parmesan broccoli but anything goes really.

Packed with protein this is a keto low carb friendly meal that even kids, like mine, ask for again and again.
